Thunder strike for third-straight victory

A hat trick from Brayden Longacre, a five-assist game courtesy of Connyr Welch, combined with a 43-save performance from Caleb Khan, led the Langley Thunder to a third-straight victory.

Langley was on the road on June 12 at the Coquitlam Sports Centre, where they defeated the host Adanacs by an 8-4 final score in BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League action.

The Thunder now sit at 7-7 on the season with four regular season games to play while Coquitlam fell to 8-5.

Tied at one following 20 minutes, the Adanacs jumped ahead 3-1 with 7:38 to play in the second frame before the Thunder rattled off a 4-1 run over a span of 5:14. Leading 5-4 at the intermission, Langley was solid down the stretch as Khan turned aside all 12 shots in the final period while the Thunder offence added three more goals to seal the victory.

Welch had one goal and five helpers for a six-point game while Longacre registered a hat trick and five points. Mac Timms (2-1), Austin Vanichuk (1-2) and Jameson Reed (0-3) each had three-point efforts.

Luke McNamara finished with a goal and an assist for the Adanacs who outshot Langley 47-38 over the course of the game.

The game was Langley’s fourth in the past five days and the team now gests some much-needed rest are they off until June 18 when they host the Delta Islanders at Langley Events Centre. Game time will be 7:30pm.
