Thunder can't build off strong start, fall to 0-2

Goals continue to be hard to come by early in the season for the Langley Thunder Tier 1 lacrosse team.

The Thunder were in Coquitlam on Friday night for their first road game of the season and were on the losing end of an 11-5 score to the host Adanacs in BC Tier 1 Lacrosse League action at the Poirer Sports Centre.

The loss drops Langley to 0-2 as they also dropped their season opener 13-6 on April 28.

The game began decently enough for Langley as they scored the first two goals of the game with Kanen Hunter and Tristan Kirkham giving the visitors a quick lead in the opening five minutes.

But the Adanacs responded with two goals of their own to close the period before outscoring Langley 6-1 in the middle stanza. The final frame was closer but Coquitlam still edged the Thunder 3-2 in those 20 minutes.

Both teams scored once on the power play.

Hunter and Kirkham finished with a goal and an assist apiece and Gavin Gill, Josh Bramley and Cooper Gettel scored once each.

Final shots were 56-30 for Coquitlam.

Langley is back in action on Sunday (May 12) when they travel to Burnaby to face the Lakers at Bill Copeland Arena. Game time is 8 p.m.
