Thunder back in win column

A seven-goal second period helped the Langley Junior Tier 1 Thunder get back on track.
The Thunder were in Richmond at Minoru Arena on Thursday night, earning a 15-7 victory over the Richmond Roadrunners in BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League action. The win improved Langley's record to 5-6, while the Roadrunners fell to 1-8-1.
Langley never trailed, although Richmond pulled within a goal on two occasions in the opening 15 minutes before a 7-1 run put the game out of reach.
Brett Billings led the offence with four goals, while Cam Smith finished with a hat trick and five points. Dylan Massa paced all scorers with two goals and six points. Logan Claxton (1-3), Dallas Kilpatrick (1-2), Cooper Arbuthnot (2-0) and Ram Tomas (2-0) also contributed offensively.
Heading into Friday's action, Claxton leads the league with 28 assists.
Jensen McGregor made 36 saves on 43 shots to earn the victory.
For Richmond, Will Denman and Torstenn Blodgett each recorded hat tricks and five-point performances, while Jayson McGinley turned aside 48 shots as the Roadrunners were outshot 63-43.
The Thunder return to action on Sunday, June 7, hosting the Nanaimo Timberwolves in a 4:00 p.m. matinee at Langley Events Centre.
