Saints strike first in series

After spotting their opposition a 4-0 lead, the Langley Junior B Thunder rallied back but could not complete the comeback, falling 7-6 to the Port Coquitlam Saints in game one of the post-season.

The two teams started their best-of-three BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League quarter-final series on Thursday at the Port Coquitlam Recreation Complex, with the Saints holding serve on their home floor. The series shifts to Langley Events Centre for game two on July 17 with a 7:30 p.m. start time.

The Thunder were down 4-0 after one period before cutting the lead down to three, trailing 6-3 at the second intermission. They would get within a goal in the final frame before time ran out on their comeback attempt.

Ty Ewen and Kyle Brunsch led the Langley offence with a pair of goals apiece.
