Pinchin, Welch pace Thunder attack

A monster game from Vaughn Pinchin helped earn the Langley Thunder their first victory of the season.

Pinchin scored three goals in the first period alone and finished the night with four goals and eight points as the Thunder knocked off the Richmond Roadrunners 13-6 on Wednesday night at Minoru Arena. Langley improved to 1-2 in the BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League standings.

The Thunder led 7-5 after 40 minutes but exploded for another six goals in the third period, three of which came off the stick of Connyr Welch. Welch matched Pinchin’s four-goal efforts and the pair are leading the team in goals through three games as with eight (Pinchin) and seven (Welch), respectively. Pinchin is also tops in points with 15.

Noah Buchan and Kai Sephton each tallied twice with Sephton also adding four assists. Talon Schroeder had the other Langley goal to go along with two assists. Todd Hensrud made 34 saves in goal for the Thunder.
