A third-period surge helped the Langley Thunder snap a three-game losing streak.

Trailing 7-6 early in the third period, the Junior Tier 1 team scored four of the final five goals to defeat the Burnaby Lakers 10-8. The teams were playing on Sunday (May 26) at Burnaby’s Bill Copeland Arena.

The win – the second time Langley has topped Burnaby in as many tries this season – improved the Thunder to 3-4 in BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League play.

Brayden Longacre scored both the tying and winning goals less than three minutes apart to complete the hat trick. Connyr Welch (2-2) and Jake Newby (2-1) also had multi-goal games while Mac Timms (1-2), Xavian Washington (1-1) and Kieryn Noppen (1-0) also found the back of the net. Timms and Longacre are tied for the team lead with 14 goals apiece.

The Thunder will look to make it back-to-back victories as they host the Port Coquitlam Saints on May 28 at Langley Events Centre. Game time is 7:30pm.
