Jr. Thunder shut the door defensively
After allowing a 5-0 lead to evaporate, the Langley Junior Tier 1 Thunder buckled down defensively, slamming the door shut the rest of the way to pick up an impressive 9-5 road victory.
The Thunder were in New Westminster at Queens Park Arena on Friday (June 15) to face the Salmonbellies with the win pulling Langley to within two points of the ‘Bellies for fourth place in the BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League. Langley currently sits in sixth place at 6-7-0.
Langley was up 2-0 after one period and 5-0 early in the second before New West scored four times to close the middle stanza and then tied the score at five in the opening moment of the third period.
Goaltender Riley Richardson stopped 39 shots in win over New West as Langley won for the second time in three games.
Langley led 2-0 after one period and were up 5-0 early in the second period. The ‘Bellies would respond however, scoring the next five goals to tie the score in the opening minute of the third period.
Kyle Brunsch scored three times and added an assist while Taylor Dudlets had a goal and five helpers to lead a balanced Thunder attack which saw seven players find the back of the net. Trevayne Hunter and Chase Moore potted two goals apiece and Nathan Lavigne and Matthew Abbott rounded out the scoring.
The Thunder look to make it two in a row on Tuesday (June 19) as they host the Delta Islanders at Langley Events Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
