A five-goal game from Erik Forsselius helped the Langley Thunder break back into the win column on Friday night.

Forsellius scored five times in first two periods -- and now has a team-best 21 goals on the season -- the last of those goals tying the score at six heading into the third period.

And while Forsellius provided the bulk of the offence the first two periods, it was his teammates who came through in the third as goals from Kanen Hunter and Jack Margetson 20 seconds apart snapped a tie game and triggered a 5-0 run as the Langley Thunder defeated the New Westminster Salmonbellies 11-7.

The Thunder improved to 9-6 on the season and New Westminster saw their record drop to 2-12-1 with three games remaining in the regular season.

Langley was playing at New Westminster's Queen's Park Arena on Friday night (June 17) in BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League action.

Margetson (two goals, one assist) and Blake Larsen (one goal, two assists) finished with three-point games while Noah Buchan, Gunnar Farstad and Teagan Dunnett chipped in with two assists apiece.

Todd Hensrud stopped 22 of 23 shots to earn the victory in goal for Langley, taking over the crease just past the midway point of the game. Noah Kozevnikov made 18 saves on 24 shots.

Benji Dos Santos stopped 43 of the 54 Langley shots for New Westminster while Noah Faria and Brett Barwise each scored a pair of goals.

Next up for the Thunder is a road game on June 24 in Maple Ridge against the Burrards.
