Eastgate powers Thunder to victory

It was another monster game from Mason Eastgate.
The rookie forward had five goals and eight points to power the Langley Junior Tier 1 Thunder to a 13-7 win on Sunday night over the Lakers at Burnaby's Bill Copeland Arena. With the win, the Thunder improved to 13-4-0 heading into their regular season finale. The team has clinched one of the six playoff spots in the BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League.
Tied at 3 late in the first period, Langley responded with four straight goals to take control, holding a multi-goal advantage the rest of the way.
With his five goals and three assists, Eastgate enters this week first in the league in assists (40), second in points (72) and third in goals (32). He is also third in points per game at 4.8 and his four game-winning goals is tops in the league.
Jameson Reed (2-2) and Connyr Welch (2-1) each had two-goal games with Jacob Glass (1-2), James McIntyre and Grayson Pinchin adding a goal apiece. Logan Claxton added five assists and he sits fourth in the league with 37 helpers.
In goal, Arjun Gill made 40 saves on 47 shots.
Rocco Sandini and Marcelles Pente lead the Lakers with four and three goals, respectively while Matthew Cabeca finished with 59 saves as Burnaby was outshot 72-47.
Langley caps of the regular season with a visit to Coquitlam's Poirier Sports & Leisure Complex to face the Adanacs on June 25.
