Burrards silence Thunder in Maple Ridge

A poor second-period proved costly as the Langley Thunder hit the road in Maple Ridge last night.

Langley was up 4-3 after one period but were outscored 6-2 in the middle frame, falling 13-10 to the host Maple Ridge Burrards in BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League action on Friday night at Planet Ice Cam Neely.

The loss drops the Thunder’s record to 2-4 while the Burrards just a half-game behind at 2-5.

Trailing 10-6 early in the third period, Langley did cut the deficit down to two goals with 15 minutes to play but could get no closer.

The loss came despite a four-goal, five-point effort from Braiden Struss-Reid. Kanen Hunter also had a big game with a goal and three helpers while Chase Moore, Tristan Kirkham and Cooper Gettel each had a goal and an assist. Hudson Shelvey and Nathan Lavigne rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece and Jordan Daniel and Nico Gerussi set up two goals each.

Dryden Recsky stopped 35 shots in the loss.
